Note
|
Note from Geoff Slater dated 21 Jun 2012: I have memories of Uncle Jack coming down to Victoria Ave to see us all from Rastrick, where he lived. He was the caretaker at Carr-Green Junior School. My Dad (Matthew Slater) was ill in bed for nearly 2 years and I was still at school. I always looked forward to his visits. He would be concerned about our welfare with the rest of the family away in the forces. Perhaps Mum (Florence Slater) told him about the lack of mail from Fred when he was on Adrias in the Med. He himself was in the RN serving in WWI. I think Fred and Doreen kept in touch with his family, but I'm not sure. Doreen's brother had a good china shop in the centre of Brighouse and lived in a nice house in Brighouse. |
