"You must know the story about the V's. Mum used go crazy because he would sit at the dinner table with Deb and Graham and under the table he would giggle and give them the V's, not in a nasty way. But as they grew up every card they sent dad they would draw the V's. So funny. On the day we buried dad, we all threw a white rose in for dad, mum first, then David, then me. As we walked away, I could hear Deb and Graham, giggling, and yes, the last thing they did was give dad the V's. He would be laughing SO much. Xx" - from June Lamb 2017

Note

David Crossley told me on 24 Nov 2015 that his father Charles served in North Africa during WWII. David only got to know Charles after the war. Charles served as an officer's batman, and hence learned to cook very well. |
Note
|
Geoff Slater told me on 31 Jul 2017 that Charles returned from "Basra" after being away for 5 years. He returned to a son David whom he hardly knew (as he had been serving overseas all of David's life to that date) |
